He's a piece of shit from beginning to end and I kind of love it. The redemption arcs in BL have been so forced and unrealistic. This feels like a natural progression of a unhealthy relationship instead of trying to make an unhealthy relationship "healthy". Just accept it's bad and make it clear in the text that it is toxic.
