From what I have learned(through other sources ), in order to imprint, u gotta trust,and give all yourself to them.Our mc might unconsciously have some unresolved feeling for the ML from his 1st life,but that’s just me.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think something happened that caused the mc to not being able to control his pheromone, making that a big deal breaker since pheromones are needed in imprinting. Hench why it's only a one sided imprinting between them with the ml giving the mc his pheromones

Its the sum of both these replies-- as we're all aware, huimin does indeed cherish and trust ml but his trauma from the prev life has scarred his body unconsciously. even after gaining his memories from the first life; he still feels fairly new about the concept of pheromones and thats why hes unable to control his pheromones.
I'm not entirely sure if this is correct info but I believe both have to be in heat and rut while simultaneously fully trusting each other with full commitment.
I'm a bit dumb but why can't uke just imprint on the seme? What does it take like how does one actually imprint on someone else??
