yes it is a happy ending and they ended up tgt (Ail never took an empress, Ruth is his sole lover)
but theres no side stories (yet) so I find the ending quite unsatisfying in some ways

ok theres gonna be some spoilers:

This one is heavy on political scheming and there are moments when you thought that this one might have a tragic ending so good thing it is a happy ending (even if u hate Ail)

Did Ail suffer? I might say that he somehow did suffer when Ruth run away. He lost his shit and acted fvking pathetic. One thing about Ail is that he likes to pretend that Ruth is nothing to him but the truth is he cannot live without him. Hes deeply in love with Ruth but didnt want to admit it. I think his redemption arc is when he almost died saving Ruth (but you must know that Ail almost killed Ruth once too). Personally, Im not satisfied with everything and Ail HAS NO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. He remains the same infuriating shit, the only difference is that he finally acknowledges his feelings for Ruth. I think the author wanted a dynamic wherein both of them accept each other’s flaws and shitty personalities
