that scene where he is beat up and saying he shouldn’t have been so selfish is the present and then when he is helping that elderly person it starts the flashback into the past. so everything thus far has been in the past.

People keep on talking about how we’re in the past but I just don’t really understand how? People are saying the first scene in chapter one? But after it shows us him walking all beaten up do we go to the past? Or the present? (Am talking about right after it shows us that, he is fixing something for some elderly person)
