like, when will authors retire the "old man with a bit of power/influence exploits young character"-trope? it often doesn't make sense either, esp here — how is a somewhat-crazy character, who can fight, unable to beat up a feeble old shady painter?? KNOCK HIS DENTURES OUT & LEAVE
