Not at all. He's a really good guy. Probably in the top five nicest fathers in a Japanese novel. (I am not exaggerating. It is actually stunning, how nice he is.)
Also, the REAL surprise (to me) is that the queen is ALSO a good person, and not a clichéd evil villainess. So the parents are all really solid, for once. (⊙…⊙ )
(The novel this manga is based on is still ongoing, and the game's heroine hasn't even MET the main cast yet. So I'm really curious what happened to make the prologue occur.)

I read on the official site, syosetu. It's completely free, and is where authors post their stories in hopes of one day getting them published. So much of the manga here was originally posted on syosetu before it got adapted, so if I find an interesting manga, I just google and see if I can read ahead in the novel. ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
