I totally agree! I'm genuinely worried about the way this could all end up if our blonde Alpha doesn't recognize how badly the beta guy is spiraling. He's almost like a power hungry addict. He has gotten a taste and now it will be tough to go back. And now there's a third person involved...it's all messed up. (That's why it's interesting though!)
Okay, this is getting really bad. But there's an interesting psychological point: when you're at rock bottom and don't know anything but rock bottom, you basically get used to it, it's a kind of comfort zone. It's not OK, but it's all right. But when you're shown what life can be like a few levels higher, there are two possible outcomes. Either you're a strong person and you gnaw your way up (or you accept rock bottom and it doesn't kill you), or you slowly go crazy with resentment and anger. And something tells me that Mr. Beta isn't a particularly strong person.
