I get that but this time it feels really interesting. Especially at the start of the story Aaron says things like he was shot at. My theory from all of the evidence since the start of the story is that Aaron had been kidnapped by Yujins dad. Yujin said he suddenly became poor as a child. Then Yujin would sing to him when he was kidnapped, which is why his voice is so soothing and then Yujin helped him escape where Aaron was shot at and Yujins dad got arrested. This theory makes sense if you read it again from the beginning and I think it's an interesting backstory
Now that's definitely one great way to make use of the cliche, hopefully the story does turn out this way!
Side note wasnt there a similar story to the idea of MCs father kidnapping/smth the ML when they were younger?
I'm not sure if I've read that. I've read one where the MC saves the ml when the ml is a child and is being kidnapped in a suitcase

I can't express how much I hate the cliche of 'we met when we were children/we were childhood friends/you saved me when we were children' it's so overused
Well tbf I don't hate it that much, I only hate it deeply when the whole story relies and revolves on this cliche, like once you remove it there's no substance in the story.
