I wish authors would encourage readers to do the right thing thru these type of media rather than making it into a drama arc. Like the MC and ML could've handled sht properly and communicate healthily and readers (especially young ones whether we like it or not) are generally encouraged to do so.
Speaking from experience btw. I've read so many tropes like these that I incorporated these actions in my younger years and that was toxic as hell, because, as you may expect, these manhwas kinda influenced on me (it may be a skill issue for me, but PLSS I was young Idk wtf I'm doing) and not every irl scenarios can be like manhwas. Anyway everything went to sht after that and I was in a dark place and I have SO many regrets that could've been solved thru proper and healthy communication.

There it goes the classic BL trope to ruin everything-- the lying to his friends that the one ML dating is somebody else. This kinda stuff is too overused IMO and I would gladly open a more creative plot mover than this type of stuff. Hoping things will get better in the future, and plsssss no more tropes like this
