But regef did become so deranged because of the emperor. I mean even if your wife cheated, that is not a reason to then punish the child. In the end the emperor was the real Villain(plus the grand duke Heinrich)
The emperor is the real villain but that doesn’t make Regef not a villain at all.
Like;
In his first whole life : he manipulated Cayenna until he killed her, disregarding her when she was no longer useful.
Second life : still poisoned her, played fake concern, considered her as his marionette, not a sister but a doll, when she told him she was by his side he became obsessed with her, doubted every move she made (she’s trying to make me lose power!), he tried to imprison her and poison all of her escape routes, became mad at the idea that she may want to escape, and tried to isolate her fully from people so she’d have no one else to depend on but him (case example : his nanny), stalked her to no end, gets jealous (murder intent) of anyone close to her/liking her.
And I’m pretty sure I haven’t listed it all.
Yeah he’s pitiful sometimes and yeah he has a sad background with abuse, but at some point that doesn’t erase all accountability you have over your own actions? At some point your shitty past does not entirely define you but if you choose to keep that cycle going, then it’s on you??
