It's not a curse or anything complicated. It's simply that publishers don't let them rest enough. The right to rest is an unfamiliar concept in Japan and Korea (so much so that deaths from overwork have unfortunately become common). If you add the health problems that come with being an artist, these things happen. It's been proven that Japanese mangaka live shorter lives than the national average. Things are a little better than they were a few decades ago (publishers used to be very strict and wouldn't budge. You had to draw no matter what), but they still need to improve and avoid reaching the point of taking hiatuses due to health problems.
Why are manga makers so prone to illnesses or injuries something bad is always going on in their life maybe it's a cursed career
