To me it looks like they STILL aren't okay even in the moments when the story goes comedic, even when they are drawn as funny chibis, their negative emotions and fear don't go away and in the same way even when they goof off the comedic style makes it feel like escapism and procrastination, so it gives everything a cruel polishing, I kinda like that
That’s exactly why it feels so off to me. I guess it’s just not my cup of tea.
I REALLY LIKE THIS STORY, DONT get me wrong but the jumps from serious to funny feels out of place. Like, the ML almost had a mental break down and then it just gets glossed over. I wish we were given more time to fully be immersed in the feeling. It makes me feel like we shouldn’t take the characters feelings seriously because they’ll be okay again in 2 seconds.
