Probably just chronically ill and not terminally ill. He probably has a sickness that cannot be cured but can still be managed. And it seems like he was managing it fine, given how active his sex life is. And cause, from my understanding, he never really died from his illness. He died cause he decided to go bungee jumping without a rope.
