Ikr.. the way they quickly wrap up things it felt like hess is over reacting and kael is indifferent to her. In novel he was hurt and I think ? Hess started ignoring him for couple days and then one night she was sitting on the edge of balcony and kael saw her from the ground floor got panicked thinking she was about to jump and ran to her room. They sum it up like a total circus.
This scene was so much more meaning full in the book. She wasn’t just about jump of because of Diana, she had also been having a major existential crisis about where she fit into the world, now that things were almost over. Also he grabs her while she is sitting in the balcony, so they both fall back with him sort of spooning her. She tries to get him off her and doesn’t stop struggling until she feels her shoulder getting wet because he is crying. His head stays nettles between her neck and shoulder for a while before we finally hear him whisper “why”. Tears also start running down her face at this point
