Um, he's literally under some spell or hypnotism order placed by his brother. The author did a good job displaying that to us

I don't remember the chapters but I think Soun tried at least 3 times, including this last chapter 35 (notice the brother's appearance in his thoughts looked off, like it was mind control).
just say it already his so scared to his family yet he already got abandoned by them.
