It's actually quite practical. If it were real life I'd stay away from Jiho as well, as I don't have the patience or perseverance to take on a hurt person. Generally, people like Jiho will hurt you as self defense even if you're just trying to be kind to them. Of course they deserve love; lots and lots of love to make up for their childhood trauma.
Ah, I forgot to add the important bit. They're only able to recover from their trauma when they're ready to accept love. You can't force love on them.
