If you didn’t understand the meaning behind this story, This manga was shown a sign of symbolism which was shown references to the Bible. This story was not about love, it was something much more deeper and darker. Todd is the wolf/coyote representing as the devil while Dennis is the pure innocent like the sheep. In the beginning of the story, the farm owner announce to Dennis saying “trust nothing except the sheep” which was never believed anything but the innocence (where in the Bible, sheep were a symbol of pure and innocent) I believe the farm owner already knew that someone or something was in the mountains, who seduce men and takes their sheep away. So, Todd lures Dennis in through love, but his true goal was the sheep but also more importantly, Dennis soul. Dennis fell in love with Todd representing him giving in to temptation. He place his trust in every way forgetting the owner warning. In the end, Todd devours all the sheep and returns to wherever he came from (symbolically Hell) Dennis is left nothing but heartbroken with no sheep and purpose. This is the part where Dennis was devastated by that and he takes his own life where he follows Todd into the darkness, not only did Todd just took the sheep but took Dennis soul as well which it connect with him through his mind and seducing him to fall from the cliff. This was why the title was called “Falling Sheep” because as we understood, in the Bible, a sheep represents innocence and purity which suggest that Dennis was once pure like the sheep but after falling in love with the devil (Todd), he lost everything metaphorical and literally. He was a sheep himself and eventually was devoured by the very wolf/coyote he trusted. That’s why Todd spent so much time with Dennis in order to get his soul. I really hope this made sense and I’m sorry this was really long to read lol Σ(っ°Д °;)っ BUT if there’s any story similar to this, please suggest it to me
