I just saw another person saying that Emiliano explained that if you’ve killed somebody, you keep your memories as a punishment.
Then, what if in the first life, Cárcel was killed by Oscar, which could explain why Oscar still remembers everything (he doesn’t look like the type of bastard that would kill himself)?
And the reason why Cárcel comes back could be, not necessarily that he « wished » for it but that he « belongs » with Ines and will not find peace until he is reunited with her (maybe he vowed/promised to find her in every lifetime).
Now, since it’s already their 4th life, God decided to help him by sending some memories (God became impatient).
But that leaves someone out : Luciano. Since Luciano killed Emiliano in the 3rd life he remembers the 3rd life and it could be a reason why he agreed with Ines distancing herself in the 4th life. Or Luciano has an hidden agenda concerning Oscar, whom he will try to avenge his sister’s death from the 3rd life.

The part where Emiliano (yay thank u for mentioning his name i kept forgetting) mentioned the punishment, it’s not for someone who has killed others, but for someone who has killed themself.
The theory of Carcel belongs to Ines and he vowed to find her in every lifetime might actually be plausible in my opinion, as from what we have seen from every timeline, he fell in love with her without fail, even if he was in denial in the second life, or did not end up with her in the third life, he still did her a favor (helping Emiliano escape), probably because he harbored some level of affection for her.
I kinda find it funny that in comparision, Ines did not care that much for him at all lmao She fell in love with the CP at the beginning of the second life, chose Emiliano and actually fell in love with him too the third life, and purely chose Carcel this life to be strategic but then of course the fated lovebirds were always meant to be together. I’m so happy that even after all that she been through, she opened her heart and let herself fall in love with Carcel (again? maybe?). Oh also the fact that she didn’t notice just how brutal the CP bullied our boy and only found out through Carcel’s mom one random day

Also, i agree with Sardine that sth must've happened to the CP since he doesn't seem the type to kill himself. Maybe it's because of the transmitted disease he had from the whores he was sleeping with and then later on passing to Ines which resulted in her miscarriage. It's a possibility.
Ines didn’t let herself fall in love with Carcel. It’s a pity the manhwa didn’t adapt the Calztela arc well. Ines was fighting her feelings for Carcel which clearly showed she was falling in love with Carcel. Author also confirmed it in her question and answers to the novel. She pointed out that Ines’s heart had begun to love Carcel even before she stopped scheming against him. There are instances in the novel that reveals this.For example, one time she was thinking of Carcel having dinner with another woman in their dinner room and she felt uneasy because she didn’t want him to treat another woman with the kindness he showed her. This is at the height of her schemes and before she invited the lady into their home to cheat.
In the previous two timelines, Carcel was like a stranger to Ines. From the age of 6, she said she and Carcel were already divided into cousin of Oscar and fiancée of Oscar. Her mindset towards Carcel was that of a rival. They rarely saw each other and then finally Carcel went to the academy and kept his distance from Ines even in court because Oscar used to torment him over Ines all the time and he couldn’t understand why. It’s not like he and Ines were close. Ines also stayed far from Carcel because Oscar would rape her (see the ep54) when she so much as had a small conversation with Carcel. What manhwa doesn’t bring out in ep54 is that Ines tried to seduce Carcel and said in her thoughts it wouldn’t work because she believed Carcel would never want her nor mess with his lord’s wife. She thought Carcel wasn’t interested in her.
She naturally took this mindset into the 3rd and 4th lives because she never would have chosen Carcel if she thought he would fall for her or was interested in her. So her lack of interest in Carcel in previous lives has an explanation. Nevertheless, Ines always acknowledged Carcel was the most outstanding, capable and handsome man in Ortega. When she says she chose him for his face and his potential as a divorce candidate, she meant it with all of her heart.
Also, in the timeline Ines married Oscar, it’s assumed the painters were also there to paint her in that timeline.
You’re right, the CP death in the first life might be similar to Emiliano where he was ‘unjustly’ killed and thats why he was granted a wish. Which explain why he told Carcel in his monologue in this chapter that it would have been more fun if ‘they’ (Carcel and Ines) have made the same choice as him, alluding to the fact that his wish was to retain his memory of the first life.
Reading other comments i remember that Ines also had dreams about the first life, the memory where she on her death bed, surrounded by servants in Carcel and her marriage home. She also mentioned something along the line of how the servants look aged compare to how they are right now in the 4th life. That must have mean either that she died according to fate and didnt retain any of her memory, or that she wished for something other than keeping her memories. I wonder if it was the same case for Carcel. Because if both of their death were unjust and they were granted wishes, their memories from the past lives (for Ines the 1st life, and for Carcel all three of it) could have been triggered in order to fulfill their wishes (something along the line of hoping they could get a happy ending together, or that justice will be served), so thats why they’re all starting to comeback to them, especially Carcel as of right now. That’s my theory.
Whoop also to mention the ‘unjust’* death in the first life would explain why the CP is such a rotten conniving son of a bitch to Carcel and Ines the rest of the three timelines, WHICH IS NOT A FUCKING EXCUSE. If you were to tell me yeah hes just a fucking cunt and thats why hes acting the way that he is i would just be like Yeah i fucking believe you. Okay so to make sense of all of this, what i can gather from the story up til now + the comment section (hypothesis):
- THIS IS THEIR 4TH LIFE
+) 1st life Ines and Carcel WERE together, they were husband and wife It still unknown to me if they were mutually in love, as we know how Ines fell in love with the (fuckass) Crown Prince (CP) in her 2nd life. But I figured either way, the CP must’ve killed himself in this 1st life, thats how he remembered everything going into his 2nd life, i wonder if he knew that beforehand or it is just some sick twist of life that a supposedly punishment turned into an advantage because the recipient is a sick fuck.
+) 2nd life, CP with the memories of the 1st life manipulated everything so that Ines became his wife, Carcel was bullied so bad he couldnt dare to think about the possibility that hes worthy of even having Ines on his mind. CP achieved his goal that of being able to torment Carcel.
HYPOTHESIS: CP is obsessed with Ines, but he also think of Ines as an extension of Carcel, he has this need of being better and being able to control and harass Carcel, but Carcel status limits the things CP could do to him, and since Carcel love Ines, naturally Ines became the perfect punching bag that CP could raise hell upon, he killed two birds with one stone, all the while fooling everyone that care for Ines that shes happy and content by his side…
Subsequently, that’s also a reason why he by all mean possible forbade her to kill herself, as she would also resurrect with her memories of the 2nd life intact going into the 3rd life.
+) 3rd life, this is where Ines (with memories of the 2nd life) and the sculptor got together. Ines purposefully let herself get ‘defiled’ (she had sex with the sculptor before marriage) and ran away with him to escape the CP. Ines fell in love with him for real (sob), had a whole ass kid together (sob sob). Their love story ended in Luciano killing the sculptor, which also led to Ines killing herself, once again…
I don’t remember much from this arc bc the details been scattered through out for a long while but when Ines and the sculptor were being targeted (can’t remember the specific for this), did Ines ask Carcel a favor to save the sculptor (helping him get away)? Which could explain the part where the sculptor talking to Carcel about if Carcel remember saving him, and ?since he came back to Ines once again?, that rendered Carcel efforts useless and got him killed by Luciano (that make sense in my head but im not entirely sure)
And I wonder if the CP had a part in it this life, since he could just killed himself again to keep his memory and make Ines life miserable even though she escaped the royal family clutch, from afar maybe? If you tell me the CP manipulated and fueled the reason for Luciano to kill the sculptor i would have ten toes down believing you.
+) 4th life, the present timeline that we’re reading right now.
So we know Ines remembers the 2nd and 3rd life, and this 4th time she picked her ORIGINAL husband Carcel (sob) They belong together after all. I also need to know why she was so fweaking sickly this 4th life, my girl DOES NOT deserve any of this shit.
The (bitchfuckingass) CP retains the memory of all three (or 1st and 2nd) lives, which led me to believe since Ines acted FAST this time in snatching Carcel away, the CP is just out right sending assassins to kill Carcel so he could covet Ines for himself (sickfuckingfuck).
The sculptor remember his past life with Ines, which is his wish that was granted by the god of resurrection, since his life was not supposed to end that way in the 3rd life.
Carcel is now starting to remember everything from the 1st life. Why? Is god interfering? Maybe Carcel also died before his fated death and was granted a wish, would be weird tho that his memories came back to him all blotchy and random. I NEED AN ANSWER
Also the part where Carcel remember Luciano from the 2nd life realizing what happened to Ines and telling Carcel while on his knees sobbing OH MY BABIES THEY DONT DESERVE NONE OF THIS SHIT LYNCH THE FUCKING CROWN PRINCE RIGHT FUCKING NOW
