healing isn't linear

hot take but of fucking course he's toxic. the point is that he's trying. the epilogue is trying to portray the healing of a man who is severely hurt and severely broken, and who has inflicted hurt and continues to inflict hurt. heiner's past is what it is, and his trauma doesn't at all excuse all that he's made annette go through, but life moves on whether you like it or not. what i'm trying to say is. he deserves to be allowed the grace to atone and to heal. most people do. regardless of whether you think they deserve it or not. because most times, in real life, you don't get a choice of who lives on. all you get is a chance to do better.
