I disagree. It's easier for them to marry now because they're royalty from different countries. And if Catherine doesn't get the throne, she'll still be a high ranking noble likely with her own land and title. If they get married, it's most likely he will go to her since either way that's also the country he used to live in. Plus he doesn't necessarily have a lot of power in his country because there's so many siblings and royal family members. Normally, the one that moves for marriage is the one with less power.
I feel like the princess is going to get rejected because there probably no way for them to just marry or have a relationship that easily when they are from two different countries. I believe he chose to take a different route by choosing to be with someone who is more reachable. When he was still in her country, he had no real status other than as a personal guard for Edith but now that he’s a prince back in his own country, it’s still not enough to reach her because of politics. He knows that if they marry, they’ll have to choose where they’ll live. She’s second in-line to the throne but that’s only until her brother marries and have children. So it’s most likely she’ll have to leave her country to join him. But is she willing to do that?
