I think it's more that they are reacting to the videos they looked up. Depending on what they see it could be quite extreme and maybe too shocking yk.
Plus they just say that they don't wanna do that and they arent interested in it. They aren't saying no one can enjoy it.
No no I meant here in this genre as a whole. If the work is not specifically written to be bdsm smut it is often thought of as weird and off putting.
Looking up bdsm and seeing pretty extreme stuff and getting scared of it is totally understandable
I feel like bdsm play is a bit demonized here. I hope they just figure out whether they actually want it or not rather than saying 'omg who does stuff like that' and dropping it
