He lived his life until his death, but then woke up right before the start of it all again, right before he ran into ML. And started changing the events, instead of ML finding him in a casino, he went to him for a loan. He offered himself up, and treated him nicely so as to change the way their relationship worked, some events almost happened the same way for one reason or another, but he was able to change most of not all of his regrets. Like the rape. And the locking him up. And the broken ankle. It’s like dying in a video game but instead of starting from lvl 1 again you start from the last saved spot.
