I actually did look at Epsiode 3 an was disappointed.
That epsiode was after Dan had accepted the terms (more so tested the waters). Not only that, that was the episode where Dan lied saying he was not a vigin when he was, which led to Jae not seeing a reason to hold back on someone who's "experienced". A blunder on Danny's part.
Jae gave Danny an hour in the shower then gave him another chance when was afraid of tearing. He threatened Danny at the VERY end after waiting for a while. He didn't threatened to take away the money. That's not coercion, even if that was mean.
It'd be different he said something like "If you don't take the money and spread your legs, I'm going to kill you." That's coercion. Where Danny now has no choice and has to accept the money or his life is on line.
But Jae offered and Danny accepted. Jae explained what the terms an conditions were, Danny accepted. They had sex, Danny didn't like it and that was that. His job was paying him well, just not enough to pay off the debt.
hmm in my opinion it wasn't jk giving him a chance. when dan said he wanted to stop the first time (after the bath), jk said if u go back on ur words I'm not gonna send u home safe and sound. he was threatening violence. a little before that when dan was squirming around, jk said he's gonna break his ankle if he keeps doing that. after jk puts it in, dan says stop and jk says if he keeps this up he's gonna bash his head in. I mean, I do think these were more or less empty threats, *we* know jk wouldn't do that (realistically with his character he wouldve but the author wont write that) but dan didn't know that. he was scared, he was being threatened again and again when he wanted to stop. coercion doesnt even cover it, that's literally just rape, the whole scenes pretty disgusting too.
if ur argument is that jaekyung did not rape dan but only coerced him into having sex with him, that threatening to break his ankle, to beat him up badly and to smash his head if he doesn't stop saying no isn't rape, then I don't really wanna continue arguing or anything. yall can believe that whatever, I don't really care. i hope u guys don't extend the same views irl.
The ankle part was not a threat. That can happen if someone moves too much while their feet or ankle is being held. The way he was squirming could lead to a broke or fractured ankle. He was telling the truth, not threatening him.The 2nd part was an empty threat, yes.
In a realistic setting, I still believe he wouldn't since he would want to save face.
Unfortunately, I think Jae thought this was all an act. After all, Dan said was experienced and he's displaying a "cute appearance, acting as if he were a virgin".
Now that I think about it, they don't have a safe word...I wonder how things would change if they did...Anyways, the deal was made and the rules were set in place.
But I do see your point. When someone says "no", it should be respected. Jae's attitude doesn't help either. Though, it is the western mindset. Where we're from, "No" is (reluctantly) respected. Not everywhere is like that. But if this content makes you uncomfortable, I heard Winter Cherry Blossom (I believe) is very wholesome and pretty void of sex. Just 2 friends living together and falling in love. It's a bit hard to recommend some stories start with things many complain about here. Even Love stage.
i also believe jaekyung wouldnt have actually beaten dan up. however, *dan* doesnt know that. that's the problem. put urself in his shoes. u met the strongest MMA fighter, u reach his home, u agree to have sex with him. when you're about to, though, u get scared and want to back out. then the literal MMA fighter threatens to (lets ignore the ankle part if u say so) beat u up and smash ur head in if u say no. that's scary as fuck, lets also remember it was dan's maybe second time meeting him. he didn't know the type of guy jaekyung is, obviously he wouldn't know if the threats are empty or not. in my opinion, it was a blatant rape scene that was just brushed over, and I feel like such problematic scenes should be called out for what they are, even if its fiction. u can enjoy the rest of the story while knowing that some parts are problematic.
also, I dropped jinx a while ago but not because of the rape, its cuz I found everyone unlikeable and it was too boring. i have a lot of things on my reading list where the male lead rapes the mc, and unfortunately that's literally just a norm in bl now, its rare to find something without it. (unless its pure fluff but I don't really enjoy those). if someone comes up to me and says, oh seoin from backlight is a rapist, I'm not gonna get defensive about it. unfortunately its the truth, but I enjoy the other parts of the story. however, some people here (not u, you're pretty normal) get so extremely defensive about it that it's a bit concerning. as I said, its okay to enjoy dark stories, I do too, but its important to also acknowledge the problematic content for what it is. that's all^^

The practice of persuading someone to do something by using force or threats.
I figured I'd share this for those who do not know what the word means. It seems a lot do not know.
