i think the most disappointing part in the sex positivity goes both ways argument taking place is that yes it should be valid for men and women,,,, but also,,,, a woman exercising her right to CHOICE over when, where, and with who is also part of this. calling a story (a smut at that where a little suspension of disbelief is abolutely necessary, ESPECIALLY in straight smut) misogynistic because a woman chooses to maintain her virginity, not because of any purity culture bullshit ass reasons, as far as the manhwa has mentioned, but simply because she doesnt feel the need to have sex just yet isn't misogyny. there is no point in which she is truly shamed for having been a virgin by her peers. there is no mention of virtue and chastity and honour. i personally know plenty of women who dont partake in hook up culture or held onto their virginities well into their mid 20s not because of a need to protect their virtue, but simply because there werent any men worth fucking around LMAOO
also i do wanna throw in that like ,,,, i feel like if the dynamics were truly playing into this good girl naive virgin fl x playboy manwhore then we would see way less communication, way less of the fl taking charge, way less of the fl being adventurous, and WAAAAAAY more coercion on the ml's part. the consent is always present and enthusiastic. its never a situation of the fl being hesitant and the ml pushing forward to get his way.
i love the discourse tho ngl n i guess we all must grapple w the fact that this manhwa doesnt exist in a vacuum and the culture + misogyny of the author's environment may inevitably play a role in how the story is written as well as the culture's of the reader's shaping how its perceived. overall i would rank this manhwa pretty high up amongst straight smuts that dont make me feel trapped by rape culture as a female reader.
