Honestly disappointed that they end up having kids. Especially when both of them are childfree (and vocal about it) at the start.
Like im just sick of that always being the culmination of romance stories

Especially so since one of the major reasons the MC was child free was because giving birth was very hard on her and left her bedridden for months. Something that seems to be forgotten entirely.
Though I guess that's better then not having forgotten and sending the message that having kids is more important then a woman's health.

Why isn't beautiful to experience this kind of thing with the right person?

Sure if you personally are pro having children but it’s so frustrating to see someone who’s childfree and vocal about being childfree being once again put in the narrative “oh she was just too young to know what she wanted” or “oh but her husband wants kids so it’s her duty to have them” and it puts people irl in a really awkward position because it reinforces the idea that a heterosexual couple aren’t complete until they have a child. It hurts those of us who are childfree because people say that to us. Also it’s actually a really damaging and dangerous notion because a lot of people think having a child will solve their marital issues and end up having a rude awakening only to hate each other and the child they created. If you want a shared experience with your spouse, you can babysit or buy a pet and raise a pet. It doesn’t need to be a life you create and cannot take back even if you end up regretting it.

Especially if it’s a medical reason! I have Endo and pcos and they refused to even do a partial hysterectomy because my “future husband might want kids” and when I said I’m gay (I’m not, I’m pan), they told me I needed my fathers permission… he was outside so I brought him in to say he couldn’t care less cause he’s 75 and has great grandkids from his previous marriage and they STILL REFUSED because “women aren’t complete or happy until they have kids”. It’s honestly a mental illness to have that mindset when there’s BILLIONS OF CHILDREN IN NEED OF ADOPTING!!! Like news flash: you can be a parent without having given birth! It’s unnecessary in this day and age!

I had surgery to become sterile and the doctor asked my single ass "well what if you find a man who wants kids"
And?? Just cause I find the man doesnt mean I wanna do anything with him.

Ended up telling her "either I get the surgery now, or a few years down the road you see me as a back alley statistic"

Medical reason or no, its crazy how much the person who actually inhabits the body gets so little say

Exactly!!! What’s so crazy is that not even dead women get a say. They will keep a body alive even when the person is for all purposes dead just to remain a baby incubator. It honestly sucks how the world and society treats women and their autonomy. Like the chainsaw was invented for childbirth and yet no one thought that maybe just maybe giving birth to children wasn’t a priority if you have to invent a torture device to get them out.

I didn't said that I said if they happy together and want to have a child it's their choice I never talk about being complete or incomplete and also I didn't say I m a pro having children...choice are personal it's doesn't concern other people, your like or dislike is up to you also up to anyone, everyone has his own way to see happiness or whatever, point of view are always personal I m not pushing my thoughts of anyone but I wanted to express it nothing more nothing less

Yes but your comments are insensitive in this context. Both of them were very vocal about being anti-offspring. Part of it was medical concerns so that’s even more serious because medical concerns don’t just go away. You can’t change your mind on a medical concern because you’ll always be worried about your health or the potential conditions you would be passing down and both of those things don’t disappear. This author has basically forgotten their own plot and decided “yay babies!!!” But it goes directly against the two characters own words and wishes from the start. I’m not saying you can’t change your mind but people who change their minds are usually concerned about finances or if they’d even be a decent parent due to mental wellbeing concerns. I have never seen someone who’s terrified of dying during childbirth end up wanting to test fate. I’ve never seen someone who’s terrified of giving their child Parkinson’s disease change their mind and have kids. That just doesn’t happen. I’m personally pro choice and I will always advocate that if you are above the age of consent/majority, you are free to have children or not. What we are against however is the portrayal that a family is only a family when they have a child or that someone needs a child to be happy. Your comment about it being beautiful with the right person comes across like you’re saying that people who say they don’t want kids just haven’t found the right person to have kids with. You may not mean it that way but that’s what it sounds like and that’s why we reacted how we did.

Do you not see the irony in what you just said? If you’re free to make public comments, you’re also free to have public criticisms made about those public comments. You said something insensitive and I clearly explained why in the comment I made. I didn’t criticise you, I explained how what you said was insensitive and how we interpreted it and responded to it. If you can’t handle that, you’re on the wrong website. We are mostly progressive on this site so if that’s not you, then this site isn’t for you.

Honey, you’re clearly on the wrong site if you can’t handle someone explaining something to you. No one judged you. Not a single person made a judgemental comment about you or targeted you or said anything about you AT ALL. You’re thinking all of this in your own head and you’re projecting onto us. Please stop before you dig a deeper hole for yourself.

Whether people are intentionally missing the point of my comment or not, ill just leave it at -

I wouldn't care if they had kids or not but the story literally started out with them being VOCAL about being childfree. Its a let down that the author changed that when they could have just not included it in the first place

Especially when it was about her worrying about her health since she was born frail. It feels like the author forgot their own plot.
