This is lowkey kinda bad. The v-tuber theme is barely there-- there is neither a commentary on the industry, nor an attempt to actually show the v-tubing, or any exploration of Akimichi's niche as a stremer (except the baiting for BL fanart)??? Then there's Riku, who feels as bland as sauce-less past and has a crushing sense of loneliness-- which he somehow desperately wants Akimichi to fill in for. I genuinely can't understand how Riku fell for him-- even if you ignore how rude and closed off Akimichi has always been, the narrative itself at no point convinces me that Riku actually likes him. All the interest he shows for Akimichi and what he does seems surface level (yet Nora calls the fact he googled Akimichi's vtuber persona "cyberstalking"?? when akimichi is a public figure??? where the fuck is that stalking), partly because Riku shows no interest on life itself and because the manga doesn't want to bother going into actual detail on the v-tuber experience– so it's all, "oh, wow! You play games! I can't play games! How riveting!" in the most monotone voice ever... And then suddenly, what pushes him forward is jealousy?? For the BL that Akimichi has been baiting for??? Which, sure, okay, but ONE conversation and suddenly Riku can't contain himself from trying to get into Akimichi's pants???? Literally what the fuck And now, the princess has to be recued.
Like I'm so sorry/gen to yuck your yum if you enjoyed this but personally I just couldn't see any passion for any of the characters here and it drove me nuts how the narrarive progresses while leaving the characters behind like that
