I also don’t find it frustrating since it’s not just repetitive ‘oh no Abel is in trouble again’ the point here is clearly for Abel to grow more independent and learning how to protect himself as someone with a weak body(which is prob hard since he’s used to being strong asf, so it’s tricky) he’ll be forced to rely more on his knowledge and being more strategic and analytical regarding people. So it’s like character growth. They were never meant to save him here.

Am I the only not that upset or frustrated?, I mean sure they normally would have guard him w/ their life like they did in the beginning, but I don’t think they were ‘dumbed down’ there were issues popping at the same time that need immediate attention. Plus, the king and Regas were sleeping and was probably wasn’t expected to wake up so soon like last time
The only ones who would care personally about Abel and should be guarding him are:
1.Sir melmont
2.Butler
3.Nani(? He’s act more like the one informing the others regarding those three’s situation)
Excluding Asher since he had a job to to do regarding the situation, patrolling and discussing with the other soldiers abt the situation.
The 4 commanders couldn’t act as a guard since they obv need to have a meeting to inform each other about the news of the king ‘regas’ before even considering acting as guard but that was cut short since there were more pressing matter at hand that only they could resolve eg. The deadly injuries of a captain that need immediate medical attention the aftermath of said incident and the soliders’ new orders and duties regarding the sudden appearance of a council member and his settlement, he who is very threatening to the king who is unconscious
they’re left with their handful dealing w/ him since they can’t hide that fact the king is unwell and make any excuses why he can’t show up cuz it can be taken as a ‘threat’ or ‘disrespect’ to the council and allowing him to act more blatantly disrespectful as well as causing more damage since they left powerless w/o the king and are at threat as just solider serving the kingdom aka the council since they’re basically acting as ‘king’.Being forced to inform the enemies that the king they were trying to get rid of is very vulnerable is a much bigger problem than abel that could potentially help the king since abel can’t do that if the king is gone , no? Esp since he supposedly is resting. Doesn’t help that one do them doesn’t think Abel is needed, sir kin.
Also The counsel bastard brought many guards as well = hes watching their every move and searching for weak spot.(also how he found out the king is sick before he’s told and was planning to using as an excuse to act out)
for those saying why they separated the Regas and king which would have be easier to guard if they’re together. They couldn’t do that esp since the council members order that the Regas he brought were to ‘serve’ his majesty, putting them together is basically putting Abel at risk of being discovered so obviously they had to move him to an unsuspecting tent to avoid being spotted when the king is being served.(they didn’t know about the bastard’s plan to burn the Regas)
the commander couldn’t watch the abel atp since their moves are being watched by the bastard attendant, and obv Asher is busy managing the situation so what’s left are the butler and sir melmont and nani. We don’t know the reason why they were gone and aren’t at the tent like they’re supposed to be and the events that took place before freaking out about the brown medicineasn then finding Abel is gone. I think they must have been occupied for a good reason considering how protective they are abt Abel esp after his near death experience.
It’ll probably be explore the next few chapter when the three ponder on about their regrets on what shoudlve done.
