It actually just proves what big of a plot hole the family business is lol it seems like the author thought of Taeju as a nepo baby of a mafia family, adding the cousin and father to the mix to prove it and then halfway through decided his family was gonna be "green" so the characters of the family that were added afterwards seem like normal civilians
I think it's more like the duality of gangsters, "mi familia" trope in mafia fiction. They are protective with their own family, including supporting their crimes
This chapter is a poke for people who said "taeju come from loving family why he ended up as a red flag" LIKE they're GANGSTERS, and the fact that the parents let taeju do gangsters shit is enough to explain the family isn't as green flag as people wanted it so of course he's morally grey. The parents love their kids, sure, but in the end they let one to be just like them
