
I think it usually happens more than you think, when there's a huge pool of manga artists out there and you can't compete with them on popular genre: shoujo and shounen—some of them don't have a choice but to draw something they might even like because there is less to no competition on that genre, whatever could earn them money (like those bl comic artists that are actually homophobic irl). I think that's why the erotic manga industry is still alive because there is consumer of those, that's why I always said that authors/ creators are not a representation of their works, just like you offer shitty products for an ecommerce you work for—that's not on you, it's all just work. And artists (if that's the only job they can do) also have to live and pay their bills.
