Getting called a predator for getting together with a consenting adult who is only a few years younger at most and whom you met in context where you are both completely independent of each other and you, in no way, can be assumed as having had a duty of guardianship towards him, all because the author told these numbskulls to hate you for getting in the way of their wee little main characters. I've got a friend (24 yr old) who's dating a 28 yr old coach at the hobby badminton club he attends. I guess I need to warn him that he should break it off because the woman is a predator. I should tell him to go hit on one of our professors from college instead or better yet on the daughter of his dad's childhood friend from his hometown who he has grown up thinking of as an elder sister in all but name. Or maybe he can try his luck with his 45 year old boss, she's unmarried. All those options would be completely unproblematic, so romantic and not at all gross, according to yaoi audiences. On the other hand, I'd better not. He isn't the main character of a BL story after all. He can't live according to fujoshi/fudanshi morals. There's the zombie apocalypse of fiction where infected are out eating other people's brains. Zombie apocalypse for the romance manga audience has got them eating their own brains instead.
Whoa dude chill. Sounds like this is some personal landmine for u and ur taking it out on me and that's not ok. If u really read my comment ud see it wasn't the age that was the problem (since i acknowledge that they r both of consenting age) but the power dynamic. They meet in the context where the other guy was dochan's teacher, giving him seniority and authority in the dojo, and while the authority technically only applies in the dojo it almost certainly spills into other aspects of life since this is the context they meet under.
Also my reading of BL doesn't mean i automatically think all BLs are a healthy and ok relationship to be had, that is a WILD assumption on ur part. Yeah BL has a lot of not ok pairings but that doesn't mean I condone them. For all you know I might not even read those ones simply because of toxicity of the pairing, so u making this blanket assumption about me, a random stranger on the internet who is acknowledging the imbalance in power dynamics between these two when they met, says a lot more about u than it does about me. You don't have to like my choice of wording, but saying that ur disapproval of my diction automatically means i suffer from brain rot is uncalled for, unappreciated, and frankly asshole behavior when u could have easily just said "i disagree on the use of predator as a term, i think blablabla would be more accurate because A B C."
