Common manipulation tactic. Seme has been feeding the uke that 'no one loves him,' and uke is feeling isolated. However, to strip uke of any power, Seme pulling back can indicate 'and if I don't love you, who will?'
Seme might be waiting for uke to prove himself that he's committed to only him.
Unfortunately, a lot of people in abusive relationships would rather be with someone abusive than be alone.
I actually hope seme's tactic's doesn't work and that the mc is able to decide on his own
