TRUE MEANING

Okay, this is one big symbolic reference (def got a little baited into reading this but I got it)

For anyone curious about how this is a symbolic reference, the author can be referring to one of three things with this story.

The true name of this webtoon is "The Fallen Lamb," which is a phrase that can carry different meanings depending on context (hence y the author could have meant either of these things).

1. Religion: "Fallen Lamb" is often referred to the crucifixion and Jesus, the innocent lamb, “falling” in death for the sins of the world:
---In chap. 1, Dennis says, "it feels like the end of the world."
---We see Todd corrupting him throughout this
---In chap. 8, he has a dream about going off the end of the world
--Final chap. he jumps, and the final image shown at the end is a picture with the lamb's neck broken

However, it could also be the alternative religious meaning of betrayal or suffering, where purity and righteousness are sacrificed by a corrupt world, implying tragedy, loss, or corrupted innocence.:

---In chapt. 1, Dennis says, "it feels like the end of the world." AND the warning NOT TO TRUST anything besides the sheep
---Before meeting Todd, he stays by himself and does what he's told, and in chapter 4, he is a man with strong morals who would have stuck to his goal had he not been corrupted (also seen again when he's hesitant to kill the sheep in chap.6)
---We see Todd corrupting him throughout this
---In chapter 9, he has a dream about going off the end of the world
--Final chapter, he gets betrayed by someone he thought he could trust and dies

2. Innocence Lost (outside of religion): Someone who was naïve or pure, but has been "brought down" by the harsh realities of the world.
---Basically for much of the same reasons before (minus what happens in chap.1)
---And this could also explain why, despite the CLEAR & OBVIOUS SIGNS that Todd is not to be trusted, Dennis is naive and trusts him anyway
---He's a loner(doesn't even seem close to John (Chap.1)), he's weak-hearted, he doesn't stray from his job until meeting Dennis
---He even hesitates when it comes to killing animals (chap. 3,4,&6)
---Final chap. "brought down" because of how naive he is and the weight of his betrayal due to how much he really did trust Todd (Has nothing to do with love necessarily)

3. Metaphorical or Literary Use: "Fallen Lamb" represents someone cast out or broken who once had spiritual or moral integrity. Be ironic — e.g., a false savior or someone pretending to be innocent.

-Same reasons as before

NOW BOOM: WHY DID THE AUTHOR MAKE DENNIS FALL FOR TODD?

Pretty sure the reason why the author decided to have Dennis fall in love with Todd is because if Dennis was in love with Todd, it made Dennis trust him more easily.(refer back to chapt 2 & 3, he's suspicious of him at first), then in chap. 6 & 7, Todd basically "tests" Dennis to see if he's finally loyal to him (also think about what Todd says in chap. 6 about love and what makes him trust a person), in chapt. 8 Todd knows Dennis is completely loyal and trusts him completely (perfect manipulation).

FINALLY, because he trusts Todd so much, he leaves him alone with the sheep, not heeding the owner's warnings, only to realize he's been betrayed. (It's like "love is blind")

I never expected a religious allegory in Yaoi, but this was really well done
