if the empress was a slightly complicated character and didn’t literally push etienne out a moving carriage last chapter, their exchange here could actually have been interesting: still evil and powerhungry, but with an internal logic that makes sense
At this point it's all Rishar's fault cause if the Queen knows he has feelings for Etienne and knows that THEY'VE been doing the boombayah then that just means he hasn't been very discreet (Etienne literally told him to not draw any attention or else their rebellion will fail )
