I feel like I’ve explained this a thousand times. In the beach episode, Xinlu was going to take Tay no matter what—dead or alive. If Tay died, Xinlu would’ve just turned him into a body pillow. It’s as if he never cared about Tay’s well-being or health in the first place.
In UNHRDO, Xinlu even forcibly tried to have his way with Tay, especially when he pushed on Tay’s ACL. Meanwhile, when Tay’s knees started to hurt, Ilay immediately knelt down and got him an ice pack. Even Changin, who’s supposed to be Tay’s relative, never cared whether Tay lived or died. He just wanted to use Tay to steal equations from his brother, and if someone discovered the embezzlement, all the blame would fall on Tay. So even if Tay made it home after six months in UNHRDO, he’d still be tracked down and either killed or arrested.
Even Tay’s supposed “closest friends” in UNHRDO began turning their backs on him just because he unwillingly became Ilay’s assistant instructor. Nobody cared even Tay tried to explain on his side, they were isolating, beating and hated him. Nobody cared if Tay got hurt or died—except Ilay. Ilay was the only one who got angry on Tay’s behalf when he was injured or mistreated.
That’s why Tay cares about Ilay. It’s not Stockholm syndrome.
That just means everybody in his life sucks ass ( ̄∇ ̄") He can still very much have Stockholm Syndrome because Ilay is 100% still the bad guy here (alongside various other people)
