jjk's defenders are really funny. Now that we know his story for real, what makes jjk and Dan so different? How is it ok for him to lash out at others and throw tantrum, but it's not okay when Dan gets depressed and becomes dependent on alcohol? If anything, he should be more empathetic towards Dan because of his background, but instead he's too busy focusing on himself.
So now he's not a jerk anymore, he's a jerk with a sad background. That's it ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

exactly now we know what happened to jk past shouldn't he be more understanding of Dan's situation instead of being an ass?! like sure he's past traumatized him or something but that's not the reason to be an asshole just saying ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍

    its probably toxic masculinity
the fact he FOUGHT to get outta the slums and there was no room for failure or getting beat up. he learned this at an early age.
there are somethings u also cant unlearn like genetic things.
his fathers genes are still in him and he still cant unlearn those things without proper therapy

I'm guessing there is more to his story to explain that, but yeah he's just being an ass

when you say it like that, yeah it's not his fault that he wasn't raised with proper care, and that everything relies on brute strength, like that one time he promises Dan would get anything if Dan could land a single strike on him.
I also saw someone in the comment section mentioned that jjk is a victim of child abuse, and because of his father, the cycle keeps continuing. It makes sense.

so does that mean jk is also doing what he's father did to him to dan? or something close to that?

oh yes, but maybe in other forms, like abusing Dan for his sexual desires could also be counted as another form of toxic masculinity. sorry if my previous comment is not making sense lmao :))

JJk's defenders give me flashback of my 14 year old reader mentality, where I barely read enough good stories to understand how certain topics and characters should be presented.
