This whole comment section is filled with brain dead people. His sad back story is NOT AN EXCUSE!! IT'S AN EXPLANATION!! it was foreshadowed for a very long time. It's up to you if you want to change your opinion or not.
This is chapter was supposed to explain why jaekyung is so freaking obsessed with winning because it's the thing that kept him alive, gave him food and respect.

a lot of people complain how yaoi/bl stories aren't taking seriously when they are the problem ┗( T﹏T )┛like we need backstories, explanations as to why characters act as they do, analysis of how that affected them... but if you just react to a backstory like "we didn't need it" then you just consume to consume and prefer shallow stories.

thank you for this comment, people nowadays think that backstories = justifying actions. like then all villains/morally-grey characters' backstories are all to make excuses instead of giving us a good, 3dimensional character? (⊙…⊙ )

Purr, people grow so preoccupied by and invested into a storyline and its characters that by the time they've formed an opinion about it, it's so incredibly narrow-minded and self-centred. As readers and consumers of knowledge, we ought to behave with respect towards fiction, take a step back and see it for what it is and what it tells every time it's condensed within a different set of pages.
