I can’t believe I’m still reading this

Fuck Jaekyung, but looking at the story I don’t really think this is meant to “redeem” his character or make us feel guilty.

Let me explain: do you feel guilty or suddenly like you want to feel sorry for him after all the things he’s put Kim Dan through? Especially with how late in the story his backstory is? Noooooope. Zero sympathy for him still.

BUT do you find yourself better understanding WHY he reacts the way he does and WHY he turned into such a dick bag? Yes. Yes you do (don’t lie to me, we’re all people with brains and we know how the abuse cycle works).

Anyways all that to say I think this is just the author explaining WHY he is the way he is and not “hey you should pity this guy I’ve spent the last couple of years making you hate!”

Yep! also, I do notice improvement in the author's writing compared to BJ Alex. So I think this backstory could also play a part in his redemption. JK is an insecure asshole who's ashamed of his past, that's probably why he treats his benefactor, who knows it, badly. And now that Dan knows too, I think it could serve as something to have Dan stop avoiding him to talk about it, and JK being mad but also forced to confront it and all he's done to Dan.
