i wanna point out that lots of times it’s the opposite, abuse is a very tough cycle to break and i’m guessing jk is trying to protect himself from something he may think is coming for him. not justifying his actions just explaining what may be happening. stuff like that takes yearsssss of therapy to work through and i hope the author highlights that later down the line!!

A year after wr broke up, I met my current girlfriend who was also abused by her parents, but she broke the cycle and its the sweetest person I've ever known. So yeah, it can go both ways
i just want to know where he got the jinx and started to abuse his partner even though his back story is so painful. usually people who get abused won't abuse other, because they can feel the pain. i mean with his sad back story i won't feel sorry for him, he don't have any right to be a jerk. i get it why that old man is so angry when he meet him again at the hospital, jk must be acting like he owns everything.
