She told him ? She begged him to leave her alone ? He purposely ruined all her chances to any normal relationship (friendship or more) with anyone else so he could have her to himself. He is not the victim right now. Even before becoming completely crazy he was doing everything in his power to isolate her. He knew about the rumour in high society and he knew how this world worked.
He is pitiful but he also massively fucked over his supposedly childhood friend AND her family (letting his own dad bully her dad ???)
The author did Persen a great disservice. I pity him. Abused and abandoned by everyone when he needed them the most. I can't fully like the FL as she knows all this also. It did not have to go as far as it has gone. She could have told him about the rumors of them and what she was enduring. Instead she abandoned him and further battered a battered person. This storyline feels forced and Persen deserved better. The enemy is obviously the plot.
