I agree with this. His past doesn’t excuse what he did, but I do wish he had the chance to grow up in a better environment. That said, I can’t help but feel a bit proud of how he managed to claw his way to the top. Still, I think he really is the asshole everyone says he is. No matter how much some people try to excuse, romanticize, or glorify his actions (like some of these people in the comments （￣へ￣）), the hate he gets from readers is still completely valid.

I understand that boxing is all he has, because basically it's all he's ever known. I can also understand the affection towards Dan's granny because he's reminded of his teacher's mother. The shitty attitude might have been his shield growing up till now.
But for someone who was wretchedly poor,oooh ooh how he judged Dan when his own life was worse off. And turned the boy to a damned prostitute for his debt and proceeded to do worse. If not that he's a professional fighter I'm sure as hell he'll be like his daddy. Beating people who anger him.
Wanna see more of the childhood I definitely didn't ask for. But I would not still forgive Jaekyung. There's no excuse for how he's treated Dan.
