Just to clarify, no, YOU DO NOT NEED TO PAY FOR CHAPTERS... because they'll all eventually be free on Lezhin, as they unlock a chapter every week.
Okay so regarding how the coin system works: As of right now, there are 26 unlocked chapters, which means they are free. Every week when a new chapter unlocks, the next four chapters that are locked are 1 coin, the other next four are 2 coins, and the rest of the locked chapters are 3 coins. And the cycle continues that way.
