Yeah, that's what i think so. His nanny cares for him but doesn't show it for his own protection. The crown prince get rid of the people who help prince franz and isolated their sister(princess).

In what i understand, prince franz wants to go to the duke's place to get help.. her sister is isolated by the crown prince(or should i say she's mentally drugged. The princess said to prince franz before, don't tell the crown prince that he knows how to read. Maybe that's why he's pretending that he doesn't know anything for his own safety.
