omg i love u like i didnt even know i had a prejudice against these characters until u put it into words. like ik they're meant to be sociopathic and edgy and therefore scary as shit bc they essentially have no moral limits since their actions come from a place of something as insignifigant as boredom, but like, if i wanted to see this type of person then i would go to a major city in America. like these silver-spoon jackasses who lack nothing and therefore feel entitled to everything are so commonplace irl, and they're JUST as lame and insufferable as they are irl as they are in these stories. they're never as cool or edgy or morally horrifying as authors want them to be, bc they're just like your average dude with too much privilege who think they're above everyone else.
Idk if it’s just me, but I hate that villain trope where they’re just soooo affluent and soooo unbothered that they just smile and fuck people over calmly for no reason except boredom and because they want to, and they act like they’re above others when they react emotionally. Like the whole “awww, I think it’s so cute how flustered you are, Im gonna keep ruining your life and making you miserable with a dead smile because I’m rich and like drugs and alcohol and moneyyyy”. It’s such a lame writing tactic and it makes the character insufferable, not in a compelling villain way, but in an I roll my eyes and skip ahead every time they speak kind of way.
