Honestly the only thing this backstory showed us was why he is obsessed with winning you would think after going through something like that he would treat Dan kindly but no. I'm sorry but this doesn't excuse the stuff he has done because Dan is now suffering because of him like it's not clocking to you
This! The backstory is just there to garner sympathy points, he would've literally turned out the same with good parents
yeh okey he got some bad parents but he was also taken in by that old guy and grandma who was really good to jk, and having those good people around him, he would know what it feels like to be loved, and he would also for sure know that no means they don’t want to— also he had been in past relationships where his partners most likely refused and acted the way Dan has, surely jk could’ve sat and thought what he has done wrong but no, he just thinks too highly of himself cuz of winning boxing and thinks that he can get anything he wants, he’s really just a jerk and would’ve still been the same even if he had good parents
