It's a shame. There is a lot in the novel that the manga failed to explain. In the case of the Novel, the majority of the people in the community agrees that Erika is best girl. She is determined to be Harold's ally no matter what because she knows the side of Harold that Harold himself is desperately trying to hide. Whereas Harold is trying hard to push Erika away because he knows what will happen to her if she sticks with him.

In terms of key details, Erika being able to physical force Harold onto the boat is not just simply a point of strength but also character and story growth. In the original route, Erika was only a master of healing and was not good at anything else. She was physically weak and don't have any physical combat capabilities. But thanks to Kazuki, in this route, she has not only trained her healing abilities but her physical capabilities as well. This is showing that Kazuki's action thus far isn't useless and is actually changing the story for the better. He is influencing the world towards a positive direction and is slowly avoiding the catastrophies of the original story.

As for the moment they shared on the boat, the manga doesn't explain it but that was the first time Kazuki ever felt any romantic feeling towards Erika. Before that moment, Kazuki only ever saw Erika as a tragic herione who is destined to die for her fiance. He pitied her and is trying to help her avoid her tragic fate. Which is why he is trying so hard to end their engagement and chase her away. But her undying loyalty and unyielding resolve to be Harold's ally move Kazuki. For the first time in the entire story, he finally notice Erika as a woman and realize just how beautiful she is, inside and out. Which only drives him to push her further away because now he has even more reasons to help her avoid her tragic fate.
