To state in front of everyone "for the grave crimes commited".
Now I'm not sure if it's a translation perhaps that put it that way or if Korean version had the exact same wording (didn't get to read the raws yet). Surely if there is a trial it is 'alleged' crime not yet proven and can be still disputed.
If nobles would read between the lines it would feel like a slap to them, because it's as if the church already made the decision so the trial is pointless. And who knows which family they could go for next?
