also a jaekyung hater and i think that the way his character is so frustrating and makes no progress also makes it hard to imagine them together like u said. or to get over what he did to dan.
i really like backlight narratively its so nice to read- the other ml is also really morally ambiguous too but the pacing and seeing his reflection really helps to soften parts of that and seeing their relationship develop makes it not okay, but manageable,
but everytime jinx comes out im like omg yay another excruciating chapter LMAO
i need some people here to understand that the pacing and timeline AND the plot of this story sucks ass. from a technical point too like. portraying a character like jaekyung as extreme as this and overdoing the 'repeating mistakes until the mc learns the back story and so everything's about to be fixed' trope is actually KILLING this manhwa.
the cycle is overdone, the events and keypoints are dragged out so the pacing is shit, and all these things in the story inevitably make jaekyung seem more and more like an unredeemable asshole (in the eyes of readers who unfortunately has tried to read this with critical thinking). there's a reason why 'redemption arc' is called an ARC. it's something that starts with SELF REFLECTION, which the author has made it seem impossible to happen to jaekyung. it's all about the pacing and things being dragged out too long, and seemingly microscopic character development.
