I think jintae was true to his feelings when he said he wanted to test the mc's unwavering love, because he sees that mc loves him romantically in all the lifetimes.
Their current life however in the first few chapters jintae is the son of mc's maid (mc's still the ceo's son) I think in their current time they weren't actively in the cult but mc's parents still were and this time they were abusive of mc and they died... Because of a fire mc and jintae made. Mc set the fire jintae ran with the sacrifice.
