tbf i personally get the vibe that andrews meant to be autistic or at least have a lesser understanding of social cues and all that like an autistic person. iirc (its been awhile) he didnt really know many people growing up or like at all until he met luke so it makes sense that hes unsure, meanwhile luke is very used to social thing and has been in relationships before so it probably doesnt occur to him that he needs to clarify their relationship status
