I think that the author is trying to portray the ml as someone who only acts according to what his territory needs and not what he necessarily wants for himself, except for Aretti but it's not being conveyed well cause even when he decides to pick her, it lowkey feels like he's picking her cause he realised that she is a combo of what he wants and what his territory needs and he wouldn't have picked her otherwise? Idk how to phrase it but that convincing factor of oh he adores her isn't really there.

That’s what I’ve been thinking as well. like bro can’t grow a spine enough to admit he likes her until she’s conveniently useful

the plot would have turned out way better if ml isn’t actually engaged and it was just a rumour spread by the sacred diva. But no. Bro literally canceled the engagement to get engaged to the sacred diva, then asked for cheap labour from FL without shame. And then when he realised FL is a better deal than he first predicted, he finally decides to listen to his “heart”. Yea, bro did all that sober. Rude.

Exactlyyy, it feels like she's the convenient choice (cause everyone already loves her, she does her job well, she has connections, etc). Girl has spent her life feeling like she's no one's choice and now he's appeared in front of her like what she's always wanted and is like I'm picking you. She's probably gonna pick him.

yea. its proving her outlook on life that love is conditional. Or at least thats the lesson this story gives off
